kJACK 12 months ago hey. am gonna give it a shot. am thinking of doing a simple midi version of the remix to give you an idea what it will sound like. cause if i use the provided track might get a bit messy with the drums.

I'm going to upload the final version once we've recorded it - i've put the demo up now just so people can start thinking about how they'd like to approach it. As far a getting hold of the track goes, it should be one of the resources! Or dyou mean a wav file?

doomsdayspastic 12 months ago was this recorded on a multi-track or just a one-take mix? if it is on a multi-track, individual tracks would be great to have... ...wav or mp3 (wav would be best) but individual tracks of the: + track 1.bass + track 2.vox + track 3 keys + track 4 kick drum etc... So, at least (4) separate mp3's (or the like) of each musician

cryotechnic 12 months ago can you give some examples of dance songs that you want this remix to point towards? Happy Hardcore? Trance? Electro?

sparkles 12 months ago Howdy, yeah it was recorded multi-track, however I've not got copies of them. I've emailed the studio to see if I can get copies, but as of yet I've had no reply. When we record the actual track, I'll get hold of the multis and upload them.

sparkles 12 months ago As far as genre goes, I'll willing to let people do what they like. Probably not Happy Hardcore, but you never know! I'd say Trance, House, Electro, Dance or Pop would all work!

Zodiac9 12 months ago Nice song. The song's way too fast (180 bpm) for House or Trance. Could use time shifting to slow it down, but that might take the soul out of it. I say pick a slower song if you want a dance mix. 140 BMP or less. PS: I put the track in the sequencer and time shifted it to 140 BPM, it doesn't sound bad actually. Once you get some isolated tracks, vocals and so forth, I might try a dance oriented remix.

sparkles 12 months ago Zodiac9, good point about the BPM, I'd tried to slow it down before and the verse loses it's attack, one idea might be to drop the verses completely and only use the chorus vocals ("Do whatever it takes to survive etc") which I think would work at a slower speed. Just an idea!

sparkles 12 months ago Howdy We were in the studio today, tracked Drums and Bass. Going in for 4 hours tomorrow to finish tracking guitar and doing some drop ins. I'll try to bring back what we've done so far tomorrow, but if there's not time it'll be definately here next Wednesday (4th Feb) Sparkles*

piyojo 11 months ago Hi, I made a dirty remix with some odd numbered time signatures and broken beats. I would like to share it, but I get an error message every time I try to upload.. any ideas what could be wrong?

Tridd 11 months ago an idea would be that theirs an unintentional limit to submissions... Or the server is full, this is a recent start up site so it might take time to figure everything out... Although this is all just speculation, i have no idea what's really going on here...

In my main job I work on inconstant hours, this week I've few free days. don't worry sparkles like the beatles said "You know It's gonna be allright" I really like your song because It's truly about life :) , we all especially musicians try survive.

Sorry for the no replies, I've been really busy with my degree, but it's coming to the end in the next few days :) I'm gonna say the deadline for this will be the 6th of June. After that point, I'll declde on a winner. What I'd really like to do is release all of the tracks on a free downloadable EP, obviously with everyone's permission! How does everyone feel about that? But because I don't get any payment I think you should give me permission to use/sell the remix without any restrictions (it would be mutual of course) If you agree I would make last mix to the demo (I was very busy during that time) Syntactics

piyojo 7 months ago howdy folks, i dont know if my last submission has been noticed yet, but i guess (yet again) it doesn't beat the first one. recreating that first one with the multitracks, as sparkles suggested 3 months ago, turned out to be very difficult, because the track had already become too complex for that so i would turn out solving a puzzle instead of making music. how is your degree sparkles? any progress? anyways, cheers!

sparkles 7 months ago Howdy everyone, Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for getting involved. It's awesome how the internet has allowed people to work together from across the world, and I hope this site becomes a success. I have chosen a winner, but it was really hard. There was 10 of them I really liked, and it took ages to narrow it down. What I'd LOVE to do is to release a Marionette Remix EP for free online and possibly for free at gigs featuring the best remixes, with everyone's permission of course. I wouldn't be able to pay you, but you would get your music distributed for free! I'll email all these people seperately to get permission etc, you will also have a month or so to work on it if you like as I'm gonna compile and remaster the CD in August for a September release. Anyway, the winner is Cyrotechnic's vocal remix. I'm sure you'll all agree it's ace! Other ones I really liked are: all of Piyojo's stuff, Tom Cusack's remix, Daboubet's remix, Rudy Pusateri's remix, Sinista's remix and Corderonegro's remix. These were all outstanding. I'll be emailing you all soon. Thanks everyone, keep making music, Sparkles* x
