Music for flash car racing game

ABOUT THE GAME
Road Wolves' setting is post-apocalyptic future, where old technology from '60s and '70s mix with new and player will be able to arm his vehicle and shoot down opponents to be the first, or the only one at the finish line.
Here are some screens from the menus and one from racing:
http://www.muhagames.com/RW.jpg

TRACK
The music will play in the game's main menu, player's garage, shop, map selection screen etc., *not in the racing part*.
It can be done either as one endless loop or a loop with a separate starting sequence (so the sequence plays once and after it comes the seamless loop).
Track length should be between 60 and 90s, mono, to keep the filesize small.

STYLE AND INSPIRATION
*something between 90 and 120 BPM
*action
*heavy
*rock/hard rock (or at least not techno)

Loops seamlessly after the four-bar intro. This version is high-bitrate stereo, but I can make it mono and tweak the size if you use it.

"Full Moon Rising" version 2
Added a intro, added some oriental percussion for the "cinematic" effect and EQ-ed guitars a bit different.

Here's my take on it. This can be made mono if chosen. Lots of guitars and it loops. Let me know if you would want any changes. Thanks.

"Preparation" - The track can be splitted to 4 loops, I can also make an ending, if needed.
I will upload another version soon.

Here's an older project, "Aspirin" , a melange between rock and electro (inspired by Joe Satriani's style). Can be changed.

Here is my version. If you like the idea, I can remove "vinyl" part and make the whole music longer as needed. This version loops perfectly.

This is a mix between orchestral and rock. There are two areas to this song, one being more mellow and the other not. Both can be looped.

Hi Mihai and thanks for first submissions.
I think the best one so far is number 3 - "Biker Crusade".
"Electro Game Loop 1" doesn't sound bad either but it's a bit short and lacks a main motif.

Track that I don't find suitable are:
"Plastic Hammer" - hard for me to tell why, maybe it's just too light or "strange"?
"The Insanity - Battle theme" - I think it's too dark and scary for a menu track for a racing game.
I've added another example which might be used as guidance.

Thanks for your feedback.
I see what I can do with the "Electro Game Loop 1", maybe I will develop it more, at the same time I have some more rock/ metal tracks and I have some more ideas in that direction.

Hi Sergei, thanks for your track. It's however not the right direction - there's not enough rock and action in it and too much jazz. I need something heavier, with a bit more action. You know, the player will be buying miniguns and rocket launchers in the game shop menu ;)

JTMusic's submission sounds more like the kind of track I'm looking for, especially the second half. Thanks :)

Mihai, both 9 and 10 sound quite good. "Full Moon Rising" would benefit from short, lighter entering - just as "Aspirin" has. The player should not be hit with the heavy sound the second he enters menu. But the direction is good.

Mihai_Sorohan

Thanks for feedback.
I will see what I can do about "Full Moon Rising" intro and maybe record again the guitars on "Aspirin" with a better guitar... Seems to be a very cool game, more on the "rough" side.

Hi everyone and thanks for new tracks!
jonnyb(12) - the beginning of yours is not bad, but later on it sounds a bit chaotic and I have a feeling that it lacks something. Sorry if I'm not too specific but I'm really bad at finding words to describe music.
soundroll(13) - another good track, but I still like Preparation (11) more ;)

@Mihai
Not "he" ;) But I should have taken the time and write at least some brief "about me", so no hard feelings whatsoever :P

your profile image just confusing :), you look like "him":) just joking - not to take it too seriosly

About the music - I understand what sort of muisc you are looking for. Maybe I will work on another one when I will finish with my other projects.

Thanks for entry SonicBoom. The track is not quite what I'm looking for, I think it reminds me too much about visits to the dentist ;) Perhaps if you could replace these high drill-like sounds with something else...?

@Mihai
you should not give me positive feedbacks like nobody does- you should be interested in taking the money :) lol
But, seriously, thank you !

Mihai_Sorohan

Well, I give positive feedback to composers/ producers. I like to think that artists are different kind of people, more open minded and less "on the dark side" (money greedy, unfair play..etc). From my personal experience, a positive attitude brings "good karma" :)

soundroll

@Mihai
Completely agree with you that positive thinking allows you to succeed.

@soundroll
Maybe just once you could submit a bad track to make the choice easier for me? -joke-

Really, you guys do know your trade :) Just hope I won't have to flip a coin to decide who wins.

Mihai_Sorohan

@avee
Made a second version on "Full Moon Rising" with a lighter intro as you suggested. Hope you'll like it.

@soundroll
See, I'm into trying to sell too, not only into positive feedback :p (still, track 13 <3)

kin2u2

@avee
Did you have the chance to listen to "Mississippi Stomp"?
I have other rockers.

avee
19 months ago

Hi kin2u2 and sorry for late reply.
Thanks for your submission. I listened to it and it starts ok, but I think it's too long and a bit too monotonous. The track I'm looking for shouldn't exceed 90 s, because I need to squeeze it in a flash game along with another track and a lot of graphics.

@Mihai - the entry to second version of Full Moon Rising is ok, but the oriental percussion somehow doesn't fit the rest of instruments later on. From the tracks you submitted so far I like Aspirin the most.

Thanks for new tracks!

@xceed
I like No. 21. the most from your submissions. No. 23 is not bad also but would be more suitable for the racing part.

@Aazbestos
The track you submitted feels a bit too heavy, maybe you have one that is a little lighter?

JTMusic

My most recent upload is about 80 seconds when it goes into the second verse so thats a good loop point. It has the option of being longer and sounding a little different with that second verse if it were to be used. Looping back to the intro works great too.

PS
Theres lots of good work up here =)

avee
19 months ago

Thanks JTMusic.
Quite true, I still haven't picked the winner but not because the tracks are not good. It's because there are so many tracks I like that I don't know which is the best.

Aazbestos

btw, both of my songs have an intro plus the actual song. if they end funny, it's because they're meant to loop. thanx.

So... extended the deadline ?

avee
19 months ago

Hello everyone and first, sorry for the 'extended deadline'.
Before we picked the winner, we consulted our betatesters to have some outside opinions and in the end tracks number 25 and 26 had the most votes. A number of people also liked 10, 11 and 20, and if we could pick more than one track we would choose one of them. But, since the winner can only be one, we had to flip a coin - number 25 won! Many and big thanks to all who participated, and congratulations to Aazbestos!

Congratulations Aazbestos!!!

Actually congratulations to all participants. Aazbestos, Soundroll and JTMusic made absolutely fantastic work. I really wish I could have their tracks on my mp3 payer.
Thanks Minimum Noise and Ewa for putting this competition/ deal up. Was quite exciting :)
